I using a mod 257 carb,a full mod engine with redline steel pipe at set 11 1/4...I am a newbe in the sport just brought a cat when, i apply full trottle off the coner it dies out but it does not cut off it take about 8 seconds before it catch on the pipe.I want to no if its the pipe or tuning the carb and witch needle should I richen or lean..

The pipe sounds way too short. If that is the Redline Hotpipe, mine is at over 12" from the begining of header (where the Oring goes) to the largest point in the pipe belly. The flex section itself is almost 2 3/4" long, and this is as I received it from Redline. I would try a longer flex if I were you.

have you tried to check the plug color when it does that. it will tell you where you are for tuning
