What prop should I use for a .21 motor ?

Ted Haines created the topic: What prop should I use for a .21 motor ?

Hi,
I have just purchased a 31.8" X 14" sports Hydro, it came with a plastic prop. Im looking for some help with the type / brand of prop I should use. Some specs of the boat are: It has a fixed prop sharft. Hull is made of fiberglass. it has a .21 size nitro motor.

I have done a little reading and I think I will need a lifting style prop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

I really don't know which prop to suggest...if you don't get the info you need, they International Waters, it is mainly a nitro boats forum. You will get plenty of suggestions there. Hope this helps. :)

Raced Sport 21's for quite a few years myself.
Best props I found were either a Prather 215, Octura X440 for modest to low lift, or a Octura 1640 which is higher lift.

* The Prather 215 is easiest to pull power wise, offers a good launch with decent speed :dance2:

Thanks Scott,
This is my first boat so I'm floundering a little. After posting this request I found a set of building instructions on the net for an .21 Outrigger and they recommended a Octura 1450 or a 1445. I then read the posts on probs that have posted here on Modelgasboats, I figered that my hydro was some what heaver than the outrigger and would need a bigger prop, the one I was looking at after reading how the prop works was the Octura 1630. I will take your recommendation, and so I have a starting point with the 1640.

Many thanks
