Hey Ya'll.

I am new here and have got so many idea's from your brilliant site which has been so much help building my airboat.

It has a :-
18 cc McCulloch
16 inch prop [big yes but works great}
The boat is made of 5mm ply..............

and after allot of 'teething problems' my 'Swamp Bird' is pretty fast and such a blast to use !.

I am from New Zealand............noone builds these things down here.

Cheers Guys for having me along and I'll get some pics up soon.

Top Site.....thanks, Bajatractor;)

Hey Marc,

Here is a pic of my Swamp Song Bird, nothing as flash as ya'll seem to have here.............but it as good as I can do in the time frame which differs for all of us, right ?.

So here it is and I hope this woks cause I have tried several times.

And before ya'll say 16 inch prop is to big for the size of the engine, well maybe so BUT my boat weighs about 6KG and it blast along, probably 25 mph ????, I thinkg eventually I'll make the same sort of shape out of balsa wood, maybe.

Cheers..........Bajatractor

Cool! My first ever boat was an air boat like that, made of balsa and foam. It was powered by a .40 OS FP engine. I still have scars on 2 of my finger from trying to go through the prop to adjust the needles! They sure are a lot of fun though... I would however consider making some sort of protective cage or guard around the propeller, for yourself and the safety of others as well. :drinks:

Airboats are cool, a friend of mine made one using a body board for the hull, unusual, but it works well. I don't have any pics of it though. wish I did.

Thanks Guys for the feed back...............

Yeah they are cool fun to say the least !!!
But Marc has the good point about safety, the problem there is that I am pretty much weighted to the max, think my prop cage would add a bit to much ?, besides where I go down the local river there is no body around a part from my family onlookers, but I am careful.
Nice idea about the body board airboat Dicko.....but sometimes these can be a bit on the light side and have a tendanc to flip, but yeah right having said that WE ALL WANNA GO FASTER, so it probably makes sense right ?.
I'd love to get an expansion chamber for my boat....this would be the ideal power boost.

Cheers Ya'll..............Bajatractor;)

LOVE THIS PLACE !
