New Guy From Australia.

Tusk created the topic: New Guy From Australia.

Hi there,
Been lurking and soaking up as much info as I can and thought it was time to say hi.... My name is Scott and I use the name Tusk because thats the name of my real boat. it's a 14 feet 1969 Glen L Missile running a 302 chev and a Haynes Hillier V drive its an awesome boat and I think that is why my intrest in the rc boating has evolved. I live 2 hours north of Melbourne Victoria in a town called Shepparton and although we are in a 10 year drought we still have some top spots to use rc boats.

I am interested in 40 to 60 inch Cats and I want to go fast!!!! (dont we all) so I read all the posts I can and thanks to you guy's I think I'm getting close to making my mind up.

Thanks Scott.:drinks:

Ok,
So this is the road I'm thinkin of going down. Expresscraft Thunderbolt running a M@D Racing cast 254 or a CC racing Pro Mod G260 that seems to be the done thing around here.....So tell me guys what sort of speed do you think I will get out of this combo or would the be a better engine opption to go for????

Thanks Heaps

Speed being a relative thing too water conditions .... on smooth wind & wave protected water a small 40-45" cat is far faster than a 60" model running the same engine.
Go out in the more open spaces with waves and the small cat will seldom be able to run WOT, yet a BIG cat will and would end up being the faster hull :?

Well I've got my boat at home now and I must say, Once I poked around here in Australia I was able to find someone who could sell me a Expresscraft T/Bolt so I am very happy. And thre price was excelent.... A few people said that the finish of the T/Bolt was a bit poor but I think it is fine and I will have it speedfiled and puttyed up by satdy arvo...:dance4:

Can anone recomend what running gear package is the best for the T/Bolt I want to go twin rudder I think that looks the goods. Also is there anyone that sells scale decals for rc boats of that scale?

And last on the list will be the engine......I like the QD 25 but the guys that I have spoken to say that they loos power after a bit and need to have a ring put in often!!!!! I dont know???? But they are all big fans of the CC racing Zenoahs so I am still trying to make a choice.....

Thanks Scott.

I've visited a few clubs & I gotta say I've yet to see an Omen engine. I've seen plenty of others though (Toxic, Retallick, CC, Redback etc.). I've heard plenty of good things about them, But I'm happy with my modded engines that have been done by other Aussie modifiers.

Tusk it's looking good, keep the pics coming.
