Thanks for all the replies on this subject.

So octane is not a big factor with these motors - modified or stock.

I was just trying to stop the smell of gas in my van on the way home:ohmy:

I know Oliver. Was just messin' around. I sure would like to see though where it says in the IMPBA rules that it is legal...not because of you question, but because someone posted that it was now legal in IMPBA. :) I won't be one to complain if you run that stuff at the races by the way. :)

rb110103 wrote:The colman fuel ran much cleaner than the pump gas, left almost no carbon deposit in the engine, it cost about $8-9 per/gallon in Vegas, if you are looking for more speed on the fuel, you will need the Oxgenated fuel.

Our testing included Coleman fuel, 87 octane gasoline with no oxygenating additives, and gasolines with between 8% and 60% ethanol. We actually measured the alcohol content which differed from what was printed on the pump. When the needles are adjusted to the best mixture, there is no difference in power that we could measure. Why would you pay three times as much for Colman fuel? In the past we have run 100 octane race gas and VP fuels U-2. Again, there was no measurable power difference in modified Zenoahs.

In engines with a higher compression ratio the octane would make a difference. Some fuels might benefit from more ignition advance, but we ran the stock ignition. There is a lot of power to be found in engine modification and pipe design. See The Zenoah from Stock to Outlaw at www.namba.com/content/library/...8/september.pdf There isn't much (or even any) to be found in fuel.

Thanks Lohring

So what you're saying is that I have to get my engine modifed to get better RPM?

I bought coleman because a gallon of fuel will last me all year and not go stale.

I am running a Hurricane Hydro with a RMCK side exhaust and a powermaster pipe with 1 inch header set at 12 inches.
