Sealing the Hull

gc9n created the topic: Sealing the Hull

hello there..
i have some problems with my boat.. water can enter inside the hull from the hull cap and enter near the engine electronics causing her to stop , how can i seal it? can i use silicone around the "lips" of the hull?
is anybody with the same problem?
other times water gets inside through the air inlet from the top of the boat straight to the spark plug.i put some gasket sealant thought it (spark plug) and it works fine.. but where is getting the water to make the engine die through the wires ?? i cant understand

The trim tabs should be used to adjust the ride attitude of the boat...adjust them accordingly. Typically they should be straight (level with bottom of boat) or slightly down, not too much or it will push the nose of the boat down too much.

As for the water in the hull, the only thing that would normally cause engine to die is if water gets inside the carburetor. Water spray on the spark plug shouldn't really affect it much. Try taping up the carburetor side of the cowl see if that changes anything. Also try to deflect water from the air inlets to the exhaust side of the motor, keeping water away from the carb as much as possible. If there is a lot of water getting in the hull, it will splash around and eventually make its way to the carburetor, so some auto bailers might come in handy. I watched your video and you seem to be running on the ocean or a very large body of water with big rollers...you will have to adapt that mono to these conditions. :) good luck, keep us posted. Nice mono by the way!

thanks mark..:bye:

Trims..: the trims now is just straight , they have two screw both of them that makes the adjustments, i remove those screws.. cause i want the nose up as possible..

now for the carburetor i believe u are right.. but sorry i cannot understand some terminology:blush:

1) what means taping up the carburetor side of the cowl
you mean to protect the air inlet of carburetor with something...?

2) some auto bailers, i saw what bailers are but i cannot install them because the flex is getting out from the same point..

The cowl is the cover that goes on the boat. Put some tape over the seam (joint) from the front to passed the carb. This should stop water from coming in on that side along the seam.

As for the bailers, you can install them close to the stuffing tube. Will still take out most of the water from the hull.

Sorry to say it but thats not a great boat for running on the sea mate not enough free board(height from deck to where side joins bottom or chine as its called).Best get something with more freeboard to run in those conditions then you wont get so much water inside the hull.apache or similar would be ideal for such conditions,or something like this maybe, sorry couldnt resist showing my design  .What you have there is yet another Lynx copy, also known as silex, delta force etc.Good runners in lakes not in the sea in my opinion.

While that is the sea you gotta admit its pretty calm more like a pond than the sea.Your video of your boat shows the rollers which as i say those boats cannot handle.Heres a video of one of your hulls my friend has.Not designed for the sea by any means theyre a shallow type circuit racer.Theres a reason offshore boats have high freeboard and thats to be able to run in rough water and the sea etc.Horses for courses in my opinion but have it your own way :bye: .
