Electrics brush less technology along with the new cells are most likely our RC boating future :?

It indeed is the future Scott, but these setups (well up to 70-80mph) you can nowadays buy "off the shelf" if you're pockets are deep enough. Problem is, can a novice pilot with deep enough pockets, handle these projectiles on the local pond. With gassers you at least know they start at 40-50mph and can get used to handling a high speed rc boat.
Also running together at these speeds (or little less) is probably out of the question, or to say the least, quite interesting ;)

Interesting points of view Marc... hadn't really though of that, but in fact we are seeing this problem more and more with gas already...people buying rockets and not really being able to drive them. I can only imagine where this will go with monsters like those electric boats!

I have a little micro hydro from MiniCat Racing... it's $300 and it amazing how fast that little bugger is right out of the box! There are some pretty fast FE boat for only a few hundred $ more. I can see this getting out of hand in a few years when the batts and all the support equipment go down in price even more...there will be silet rockets all over!!! :)

Pretty cool though. I must admit I really like my little electric hydro...will most likely build a big FE soon enough.

Forget the silent part. We are used to using quiet pipes on our gassers, staying below the 80-85db range (manditory at races and club meetings). And what do you think, the bigger FE boats make more noise than the gassers......

Even with our quite pipes I have had more complaints this year than all the years of running my nitro's. While out on our lake I had a guy complain about the noise above all the planes landing at the airport and jet skiers???? At $4700.00 US this boat is a tad on the rich side but if you listen you will notice the rpm's can go higher on his last run, but even a driver with exp almost hits the far right shore! you don't have to go fast to be a bad driver!
