2.4 Gig radios?

Mercury94 created the topic: 2.4 Gig radios?

I am getting back into gas boats after a long time out of the sport. My last boat was a aeromarine apache with gas zenoah in the mid 1990's. I used a digital propotional radio that was a disaster due to spark noise.I have switched to Futaba 2.4 gig radio for my airplanes and they work great. Will the 2.4 ground radios work good for this? The antenae wires on Futaba 2.4 gig receivers are very short. How do you get them out of the radio box and then out of the hull? Iwould appreciate any help or advice. I want to buy a radio that will work the best with gas egines.

above is a link to Jim's RC Boat Dock thresd on this topic

below is from Jims

If you can't find them on the dock try Futaba Customer Support #1-217-398-8970 Ext 2, 9 to 5 central, I believe the stock number is HSP79766, there 400mm long.

I did find out that the extra that is not needed shouldn't not be coiled or crossed in the boat, route it somewhere in the hull so it doesn't cross.

Hope this helps.

Hello guys
Ive used these for some time now with zero problems and i dont even run them out of my servo box.I have used them in big lakes and can run it till i cant even see the boat and have to use binox to bring it back on one or two outings not the safest thing to do but the 2.4g fast is the best on the market.

Which Radio and which Receiver are you all using?
I just purchased my first Gas boat from warehouse hobbies (team pro)

and purchased it RTR with a standard FM radio but am scared of the crossed signal from something or a glitch that will send my $1400 into the trash.

i use all Spektrum with my parkflyer airplanes and its great to have no glitches or channel crossing to worry about.

I am looking at the 3PMX, and also noticed there is an upgradeable receiver that allows the "DAD" set up (R603FS) Dual Antenna Diversity (one external and one internal antenna)

Is this the set-up or at least the receiver you are all using to help avoid the signal bounce off the water causing the signal loss others are experiencing?

Or I could get the 3PKS that comes with that R603FS "DAD" receiver

Thanks so much, This is my first and I'd like it to be an enjoyable experience and not one that ends abruptly

The 603 receiver is the HRS system and has MANDATORY Digital servo use !!

ahhh so that changes everything a bit, because the boat is coming with a pre installed Magnum Jr. w/ 1/4 scale servo. I will have to call and see if that works with the 3PK/R603FS, and I will have to wait and see what the other servo is for the throttle....

Thanks, that's great info to know.
