I am still very new to gas model boating. I have a sport hydro and crackerbox and want to upgrade my radio to 2.4 - What radio system is the best for boating?

anything that has frequency hopping capabilities. The Airtronics FHSS or Futaba FAST systems seem to be the pick of the bunch. I prefer Airtronics, many others prefer Futaba, it's a personal choice.

i have several boats and all run Futaba 2.4 G Fassst .... all the guys I run with use the same Futaba .... it is the most consistant performing radio we have used here

I used to use a Specktrum DX3R and had some trouble with it. I was told the rooster tails caused interference with the signal. ???. I have been told they have fixed the problem and are producing a radio for boats. I sold it to a car guy and he thinks it is great. ( I guess no rooster tails) I myself went back to my JR XS3 (old faithful). At least for a while yet, then I will decide for myself. Other people I know use either the Futaba or Airtronics with the greater percentage opting for the Futaba. So I suggest go for personal preference, what ever suits you best.

If you are currently using a module radio and you like it, there are chances you can upgrade it to 2.4 gig with the XPS system. I upgrade both my JR-R1 radios with this system and it has been working great for the past 2 years. Just offering options.

I'll tell you what NOT to get. Do not buy a SPECTRUM.
