I am building a ZIpp kit Easy-Vee and going to get a rudder for it. I am going to run a stock zenoah G26 with a no leak exhaust flange with a Hansen pipe. What are the pro's and cons? How would you plumb the dual?:drinks: :drinks:

I used a single pickup blade on mine. Routing was: rudder to engine, to pipe flange, then out the boat. If I had used a Hansen pipe I would have ended with pipe coupler then out the boat.

With a dual pickup blade I would route as follows:

Pickup 1 to engine and out the boat.
Pickup 2 to pipe flange then to pipe coupler then out the boat.

*In cold water conditions, I would do the following:

Pickup 1 to exhaust flange then to engine then out the boat
Pickup 2 to pipe coupler then out the boat.

* the reason for this is to pre-heat the water going to engine in very cold water conditions to avoid having the cylinder over-cooled and possible excessive wear on piston/ring/cylinder.

I think I will go dual pick up due to low 40 water temps in early spring. I could changed it around in summer when water temps come up. Thanks.

If you're dealing with cool water most of the time, the single pickup is more than sufficient. That's why I use mostly single pickups. If you want to preheat water to engine, just switch it to go from pickup to flange, to engine to coupler and out the boat. Dual pickups are usually better in very hot conditions, where you have 2 cooling streams. Both will work though.

Great cold weathere tip to go to flange then engine then out. Never thought of that. Will do in the winter months to raise the engine temp.
