I've been seriously thinking of taking MGB back to its roots and letting readers post some of their own reviews of boats they own. I'm wondering how many people would actually be interested in doing that?
Of course there is work involved, but I think it would be a great way for people to actively participate and contribute. It's always more interesting to be part of something than to be watching from the sidelines I think!
It would have to be written up in article form with good quality pictures and some video footage of the boat in action. The reviewer gives his/her comments on the boat and products used. We would publish the reviews on the website here in a section dedicated to reader reviews. Of course we wouldn't post bashing, but a good honest evaluation of the products, with pluses and minuses would be the goal. We can't do them all, and I know for a fact there are a lot of guys and gals out there with experience with a lot of boats and accessories.
If I can get feedback on this and see that enough people would be interested in doing that, I will get things setup. Basically all you as a reviewer would have to do is submit the writeup, pictures and video and I would do the formatting and publish it to the site. Would look just like all the other review articles, but with your name on it.
Let me know what you guys think. I would like to start with boats, and probably move on to engines, pipes, and everything else boat related.
* a good example would be the
AC Lazer 45 review
published on the site... this article was done by Dom Mauro when we were first starting out. It is a great article. The only thing I would ask extra is for new reviews to include a video clip, to actually let others see how the boat runs.
*** let's see a show of hands, who would be willing/wanting to do this kind of stuff?
