This is a very innovative electronic ignition system that incorporates many interesting features! Thank you to Thomas for submitting the article!

I have ordered a unit for testing and will report back here on MGB with results later this summer!

My buddy Lex is one of the early-users.

We use it on a MouseHouse/RCMK , in a PPB-Warrior hull
and we have nothing to complain about.

Very interesting
has there been any updates?
Did he say there was interference from rooster tails?

No mention of interference problems from the manufacturer.

I haven't received my unit yet, but expect it to arrive any time soon. I don't have much free time for testing these days, but I will do my best to report back as soon as I can.

I was looking at the Rathouse and Mousehouse engines yesterday. This is standard equipment they install on all these engines now. Must be pretty good.

Marc
this was what I was talking about
What works very well is the splutter function that is activated when the battery voltage is low. Even in the fray, if several boats whisk the water the same time, one can see very well that the rooster tail interrupts shortly and then resumes. Below the selected stutter speed (in my case 11000 rpm) the engine operates as normal, so one can ride to shore normally.
And rereading it, under low battery voltage is the key.
I'll bet it becomes an industry standard eventually.

Whats not discussed is WHAT powers the system ??
Will assume a remote battery pack of some sort, and of some known Voltage / Capacity ??

Went to site in the British version finding this info, LAST line answers my question :

general

■ micro controlled, high precision electronic ignition system
■ speed up to 30000rpm with one or more cylinder engines
■ supply voltage 4-12V3)
■ constant spark energy in the complete speed and voltage range
■ 2-digit brilliant red LED display
■ separate ignition endstages2) => consumes few current when using multiple cylinders,
(because additional cylinders ignite separately and not parallel to the first one)
■ ignition offset for multiple cylinder engines: 0°/180°
■ no need of an additional battery pack, ignition system can be supplied from the receiver battery pack
■ ignition starts at a minimum speed (safe start-up)
■ easy to change parameters with programming magnet (included)
■ numerous customization possibilities
■ high-grade, red anodized aluminum housing
■ waterproof

adjustment and monitoring

■ 10 pre-programmed ignition maps
■ application of 5 custom ignition maps: each with 4 sampling points
■ adjustable speed sensor offset (compensates mechanical displacement of speed sensor)
■ adjustable ignition energy (3 steps)
■ free programmable engine speed limit (generation of ignition misses when exceeding limit)
■ 2nd ignition endstage configurable as switching output
(speed dependent or error dependent (engine shutdown))2)

■ display of engine speed
■ display of maximum achieved engine speed
■ display of total engine operation time
■ display of battery voltage

diagnosis

■ supervision of battery voltage
- low voltage warning (generations of ignition misses) when voltage descends warn threshold, adjustable
- dead battery warning, engine stop when voltage descends stop-threshold, adjustable
■ supervision of receiver battery voltage1)
- low voltage warning (generations of ignition misses) when voltage descends warn threshold, adjustable
- dead battery warning, engine stop when voltage descends stop-threshold, adjustable
■ supervision of receiver servo signal1)
- free definable supervision window => reaction to FAILSAFE signal
- kill switch- functionality
- shut-off of engine with RC remote controller

1) only versions with RC-receiver supervision RC-i x2x
2) only multiple cylinder versions RC-i 2xx, RC-i 4xx
3) supply voltage should be at least 9V when running multiple cylinder versions with speeds (>20000rpm)
