first build trying to jump into the hobby

A buddy of mine just gave me a basket full of string trimmer engines he had laying around and one of them is a ryobi 31cc engine with a clutch that starts up real easy and I was wondering if that engine would have any advantage over the homelite engine. More power, lighter weight, clutch advantage, easier to get down low in the hull, etc? Any input from you guys would be much appreciated.

I also have a lead on a good deal on a 35cc quickdraw but I would rather save that for a fiberglass boat.

Does anyone have experience with these engines?

Seems pretty inexpensive.

Well, I went ahead and ordered one of the mod motors. They are rated at 5.3hp.
