New Venom boats

doubled replied the topic: Re:New Venom boats

\" China is like new Japan\"? in which way ?
I deal with over 60 china based manufactures , not a single one can keep up with quality for longer than the month, we have to constantly \"watch our product\" and whenever we get a chance we love to switch to Korea or Taiwan based factories, those 2 are worth the money. Its sad reality.
don't get me wrong there , i love the way Venom boats look ,they pretty.and so are the other boats. to spend 900 and be half way satisfy, performance , quality (because sooner or later you will realize that),and on the end this experience might cost you more than nice locally build kit by some one who cares.

hehe you know its hard not to throw the symbolic 2 cents on the pile. We like to express our own opinions and its a good thing , but sometimes shifting form the topic.
But again someone might find it useful....
Good luck with the Venom, and let us know how does it perform.
p.s. sorry for side tracking the topic. im very sensitive if comes for quality

Hi!

I has to say its hard to hold the kinese work in the sky.
My children 11 and 13, have a Arrowshark, the New Improved(!!??) 2008 version.
I payed $585 for the complete boat, whith radio (Sanwa MX-3 Fm and 200oz servo.
But the boat is wort mabye $3-400 ink the radio (from my point of view) and i gues Venom boats is about the same - as i seen in the pictures.
The Arrowhull hull is thin and croced, hardware is noting to brag about,
the engine mount is okay. Stringers is of the vorst sort i ever seen.
Forgot, the pipe is stainless and a working pipe, propellers is garbage,
the paint is .......
But if you look in the Arrowshark pictures, it looks like a real race boat.
Bu the boat does whats its suposed to do,
-enjoy the children, but noting more.
And i hope that Venum boats is of higher quality, i see a lot of expectations,
-like 60Mph and more from the ones that has it in pre order.
But if i had to pay a $1000 for the Venom KOS(stock engine 2,2 hp) and upgrade the engine to Venom race engine KWA 4,5hp for $269 +pipe $150 +prop $25
(then Venom claims 57Mph), a total of $1440.

-then its a Big waste of good money.
-if the quality is the same as Arrowshark boats.

But okay, i like the KOS scale look, -its nice.

B) Looking good and going fast.......... usually cost lots of $$$. No different here in RC world or the full scale. I finally have the Venom boats in our store and they do look nice. I carry Pro boat, Aquacraft, WHH, Expresscraft, Aeromarine etc., and yes the hulls on the Venom boats are not the same quality as some of the others. I personally run a WHH and a Bonzi hull, and have lots of proboat BJ55 time and Aquacraft Miss Vegas and Nitro vee time. (raced nitro boats all through the 70's-80's)
Everything needs maint./upkeep, will breakdown or crash, That is just part of the hobby, and just like the full scale stuff it is part of the appeal. I tell customers all the time that if they just want a TOY then go to Toys 'R Us or Walmart etc., one of the cool things about the RC hobby is that you can fix, hop-up or bling out anything.
The Venom boats look good, go slow.... hmmm that's ok as most sport gas boats that are rtr fall in this class; some look better, some go faster. The Venom guys say they are coming over for our NW RC Offshore Championship, we will be looking forward to their participation and see how the boats perform. nwrcoffshorechamp.com
:P A little bit of soapbox here, sorry, I just love these big gas boats and with a little work and $$ we can make them all perform where we can have fun and enjoy the hobby!

Looks pretty good! Congrats! So where is the motor from? Can you buy it with the boat as an option or did you mod it?

Sorry Marc it was a quick post...... This is not my boat, it is one I found on anouther site. He didn't mention what motor. He is running a tuned proboat pipe and has made a couple other mods also..

My Boat just finished the first tank of gas for break-in on the stand becouse I don't have time to go to a lake right now. I ordered a pipe and carb and am going to mod the motor myself next week after I run 1 more tank and get a baseline gps and tach run on it. My retrieval boat will be here on tuesday and I will feel better running it if I have an easier way to go get it.

That kos has a stock cy/ sikk engine also sold by venom as a upgrade but under the name of kwa i think it is .... here i just found the link www.venom-group.com/storeitems...arine%20Engines
notice how the cy/sikk/kwa engine is only a additional $20 over the china clone had they just charged the additional $20 to start with it would make it a much better rtr its a nice looking boat
