why not just use some standard brass tube and not have to worry about the problems teflon liners can cause.

Yea I guess if I have to I could install a 3rd tube the 5/16 and run with that couldnt i. It wont be that much more weight. I've always run the liners and have never had a problem.. I should have though made my rigger to run without one I think. :(

Not sure where you could get this thin teflon liner other than hobby stores/sites. I agree though that a 5/16 brass tube alone works fine without the worries of the liner. In fact, you can run with the regular tube without liner installed. It is 11/32" and many people use that size for stuffing tubes. I have done it in the past, I just use a 3-4" piece of 5/16" brass inside the 11/32" tube at the collet end to prevent slop. If the strut end is not going into the strut itself you can put a 5/16" bushing at that end also.

I would be worried about excessive cable whip running a 1/4" shaft inside a 11/32" tube.. especially if theres no S bend in the tube.

I thought the same, and honestly I typically use 5/16" for the stuffing tube, but I did run some at 11/32" without problems. There are several other guys out there still doing it too. It's just a thought to get him out of a fix quickly. I agree that the 5/16" is the best.

did you have an S bend in the tube? With an S bend i wouldnt be too worried about it...but being in a rigger, ive seen 99% of the people these days setting them up are not using S bends, and theres gonna be more room for the cable to whip around inside the 11/32 if it only has 1 bend.

Just trying to keep someone from having to fix a boat. I already know what happens when you have a cable whip the stuffing tube through a rigger....its not pretty.

Agreed it might be a problem in a long tube like a rigger without S bend. I don't want to be the one to "guaranty" that it won't be a problem! I did it in monos, with no S bend, but as noted, much shorter than a rigger's tube. :)

FWIW, I have run straight non S bent stuffing tubes in gas riggers for years without any issues whats so ever. But do use the 9/32" I.D. tubes that have VERY LITTLE room for the cable to whip around within.
The 5/16" tube so many are using are too loose IMO, and will give you problems unless "S" bent.
