Retired Raceboat Refit

Rysquedases created the topic: Retired Raceboat Refit

Time to turn this old race boat into a weekend hot rod. Got some paint and strake extensions. Got to get the carbon fiber on and I'm ready to start assembly.

Looks good

I did same thing with a older Razor deck -- the wing is 2mm Carbon Fiber Plate though

Cheers

Randy

It's inspiring to see it again Randy. Imagination is easy but to create from it is not so easy and it takes an extra effort for the challenge of the build. The only problem I have is that I spend more time on the bench instead of the water. I took all my projects appart to freshen them up a little and I'm done using my imagination on them this year. Time to put them back together and in the water. :woohoo:

Carbon is done. Needs a few stripes and some buffing....

Good stuff mate. What've you got for hardware and radio gear in mind?

Why did you extend the strakes?

Used speed master hardware. Two fins a shortened stinger two small tabs and 6" standoff rudder. I did the strakes before the teardown and it ran with a lot more lift at the transom and wet the first run so I gave a hair positive on the stinger, removed the inner Trim tabs and it ran a lot dryer and was very stable. It should help with the added weight to the rear of the the boat.

Something else I'm trying is to mount the rudder about 1/2" closer to the prop to see what that does. It seems to me the headwear design and the stringer is dictating were the rudder is being mounted so I removed a section of the stringers to the transom.

I don't usually like hatches, but that looks really good. What make/model of mono is this exactly, I like it.
