Have decided because of the shorter and stiffer A/V mounts used in this build along with the fact starter end mounts ended up being so close to bulkhead that just maybe not pushing on motor but strut that Square Drive was better suited in this instance. ( Another personal choice, Compression collet with a welded stub or square drive is just fine ) this case being parts and pieces too do square were on hand followed my instinct.

Drive / Steering hardware all mounted ....
Strut used a slightly shortened Speedmaster extended so use of a Octura stub shaft and solder to cable flex ferrel would fit. 5/16" .029" wall stuffing tube cut to length and hand bent for angle also fitted.

Rudder used a 10+ year old ... "Don't laugh" ... J&G .21 size long blade nitro rudder. ( Figuring hull is small, turn fin is small ... so lets stay minimal drag all around )

About finished up with the rigging.

Front tank compartment lid secured with a el'cheepo cabinet latch.
Screw threw lid will get a small knob for ease in opening and serve as a catch hook for retrieve ball

Found out that exhaust routing was a tad tight clearing tubs side and had to fabricate a 1/4" standoff so pipe clearance was better. ( This issue likely because of engine / early R254 cylinder combo ) Pipe an internal stinger "Hot Pipe" with a 1" head pipe and one off spring retainer.
Due to the tight engine compartment and using square drive cable have placed the secondary coil on PTO side. Cooling water taken threw Exhaust manifold first then into cylinder and out off the cylinder cap.

Pipe mount gets a zip tie in a piece of silicone tubing & a/v mount will be slightly flexed forward when tie is tightened down.

Custom wood stand built from 1" and 3/4" doweling glued and screwed together, parts cost @ $10 and a couple hours time.

98% done needing radio box linkage & set up done, turn fin sharpening and fitment, fuel line/fill hoses attached.
Balance of pictures some random shots sharing the fit & finish details .... Nothing fancy here, this is a RACE Boat !

That's it for now ....

Scotty,
Yes some sort of tub attached air deflector could be done but would need some sort of hinged roof so engine could be lifted up and out of the compartment.
Do note that engine fitted is running one of the really short M&D intake manifolds so a conventional manifold would be placing carb a lot further outward ( Actually @ 5/16" or so ) That would make the hump on side of tub pretty large ... & Ugly.
Think so long as engine used has an aluminum intake manifold fitted the weight of the air deflector further shaking the carb won't be an issue.
* Did however cut down a Zenoah stock spit tube, bore it out bigger and belled the intake edges so wood crush by carb screws would be better distributed and hopefully less.

Will,
Add some pictures of your Warpath rigging so we can see other ways in doing so :cheer:
